Sarah is a PhD student investigating the human ability to detect online deception. Online deception is typically found in phishing attacks and fake news. A deeper understanding of how human internet users detect such manipulatory efforts is needed to develop safer and more secure digital environments. To investigate this, she combines behavioural data science and neuropsychological methods.
Sarah has a BSc Psychology (Tilburg University) and MSc neuroscience (UCL) and several years of professional working experience in AI and data science. Her PhD is funded by the UCL Dawes Centre for Future Crime and is co-supervised by Prof Tali Sharot and Dr Ingolf Becker.
